Dementia Care and Support

Quality of life means a lot of things to a lot of people. At Essential Care, we believe that three key factors are vital to enjoy a better quality of life and we address these through the services we offer. These are to have:
• someone to love and be loved in return
• somewhere to live, a place we call our home
• something to do which caters for our interests and aspirations
It’s very important that people with dementia are treated with respect. It is important to remember that a person with dementia is still a unique and valuable human being, despite their illness.
When a person with dementia finds that their mental abilities are declining, they often feel vulnerable and in need of reassurance and support. The people closest to them – including their carers, friends and family – need to do everything they can to help the person to retain their sense of identity and feelings of self-worth.
Our carers can help you on a one-to-one basis with all domestic duties that may have become more difficult, as well as providing personal care. Our carer will also be a companion to support you emotionally as well as physically.

Night Care

Essential Care provides specialized Night Care. This is where an experienced nurse or carer will remain alert throughout the night or make periodical checks to support our clients.

This service can also be for a short duration while you recover from an illness or from a hospital stay. All our services at Essential Care are flexible and we can adapt easily to meet your individual needs.
We can arrange visits from as little as once a day to seven days a week, and can visit from every week to once every month

Specialist & Palliative Care

If you’ve been told you may not get better, you might also have heard about palliative care. Palliative care is for people living with a terminal illness where a cure is no longer possible. It’s also for people who have a complex illness and need their symptoms controlled. Although these people usually have an advanced, progressive condition, this isn’t always the case.
Palliative care is usually provided for people with:
• Cancer
• HIV Aids
It aims to treat or manage pain and other physical symptoms. It will also help with any psychological, social or spiritual needs. Palliative care includes caring for people who are the end of life. This is called end of life care. The goal of palliative care is to help you and everyone affected by your illness to achieve the best quality of life. You might receive palliative care alongside particular treatments, such as chemotherapy or radiotherapy.
